Delta Prime Robotics Hosts VEX Robotics Competition at Hall-Dale High School

Delta Prime Robotics Hosts VEX Robotics Competition at Hall-Dale High School
Farmingdale, Maine -- Hall-Dale High School’s REM Delta Prime Robotics Team invites the public to join them in cheering on 36 VEX robotics teams competing in the game ‘Starstruck’ at Hall-Dale High School at 97 Maple Street in Farmingdale between 9:30am and 4:15 pm on December 3, 2016. The event is free and open to the public to come watch for all or part of the day. The schedule is: Qualifying Rounds/Skills Challenges 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Finals 2:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.
Concessions available all day: breakfast items of bagels, muffins, and fruit; meatball subs and crock pots of homemade chili, soups, mac & cheese for lunch. Desserts and drinks available all day. Proceeds from the concessions will go towards helping Delta Prime Robotics in their competition season coming up this winter.
Middle and high school students from Yarmouth, Bangor, Boothbay Harbor, Winthrop, Portland, Hampden, Kittery, York, Skowhegan, Cape Elizabeth, and Brunswick will be competing. Starstruck is played by robots each team has designed and built, to maneuver game pieces (stars and cubes) in various scoring zones and by hanging on a designated hanging bar for extra points. The competition event is a qualifier in a series of tournaments culminating in the VEX robotics world championship.
Hall-Dale’s team, REM Delta Prime Robotics #4473 is a member of FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), an international high school robotics competition that gives students real-world engineering experience. VEX is a similar program, creating a platform for students from High School and Middle School to practice their engineering skills while competing in a series of worldwide events.
