Robotics for Younger Students
We recently helped start an FLL Jr team in the town of Richmond. FLL Jr is a noncompetitive team activity for kids in grades K-4. Teams are composed of 4-6 students and 2 adult coaches. We are currently running this as a pilot group of 6 team members to get familiar with the structure of the program, and hope to support other groups in getting running for the Fall of 2020. Teams meet between 6-12 sessions learning about the FIRST core values, and working on a special LEGO WeDo based project based on the theme of the year's game.
We express the FIRST philosophies of Gracious Professionalism and Coopertition through our Core Values:
-
Discovery: We explore new skills and ideas.
-
Innovation: We use creativity and persistence to solve problems.
-
Impact: We apply what we learn to improve our world.
-
Inclusion: We respect each other and embrace our differences.
-
Teamwork: We are stronger when we work together.
-
Fun: We enjoy and celebrate what we do!
It's easier to start a team than you think. If you have a curious learner in this age group, please contact us to learn more about starting a group. We would love to be able to locally host an Expo where the FLL Jr kids can showcase their season's project and meet other teams!
